If one knows the history of these recordings, one must feel a tinge of sorrow that such a lofty project was initiated for such ugly propaganda purposes. That being noted, there is a lot of wonderful singing, and some not so wonderful, and Raucheisen is an able, if not greatly inspired accompanist.
