Thank you very much for this ! This CD contains, in excellent transfer, all the best recordings made by Adelina Patti, Verdi's favorite soprano and a close friend of Rossini's. Although Patti was well past her prime when she made these recordings, her renditions of "Voi che sapete" (mesmerizing mezzavoce and legato singing) , "Pur dicesti" (flawless delivery of florid music) "Connais-tu le pays" (beauty of tone and sadness of expression, plus an example of the fullness of her low-notes) "Ah, non credea mirarti" (sung in exquisite mezzavoce, and displaying her legendary trill) "The banks of Allan Water" (wonderful example of "piano" singing in the last stanza) are still unsurpassed
