Thank you very much indeed for all your uploads. I heard Lauri-Volpi live in 1965 and in 1972. The recordings from the early 1920s don't do justice to his fabulous voice, which was both flexible and sparkling beyond compare. He disliked all of his recordings because he felt betrayed by them: however, the recordings made by him between the late 1920s and the mid-1940s are landmarks in the history of the recorded voice. His wife, a Spanish soprano who retired after the marriage, was a direct descendant of Manuel Garcia sr., Rossini's favorite tenor (the creator of the role of Almaviva) and it was she who taught Lauri-Volpi his unparalleled technique.
