  2. Albert Alvarez (16 January 1861, Cenon bei Bordeaux - 26 February 1933, Nizza) is a French tenor singer.

    His real name is Raymond Gourron. He was first bandmaster of a military chapel, but in 1883 began to study singing in Paris. 1886 debut at the Opera of Ghent as Gounod's Faust. He then sang in Lyon and Marseille in 1892 and came to l'Opéra de Paris. He sang the part of Nicias in the premiere of Massenet's "Thaïs" on 20 June 1894, and the part of Walther von Stolzing in the Paris premiere of Wagner's "Meistersinger" in 1897 (in French language).

    Almost every year guested frequently 1893-1903 at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in London. Here he sang the part of Araquil in the world premiere of Massenet's "La Navarraise" on 20 June 1894.

    In 1899-1903 he sang at the Metropolitan Opera House of New York (his Met debut was as Roméo in Gounod's "Roméo et Juliette"). In 1907-08 he undertook a major tour of Belgium and Germany. Then he worked at l'Opéra de Paris again. After retiring he worked as a vocal teacher in Paris.
